Weekly Bulletin

ZOOM LINK FOR THIS WEEK:

The photo in this bulletin is of one of the families who we bought house materials for - which will be built by locals in El Salvador. As a reminder, we bought two houses for families in need.

Ann Looney shared opening words.

Phil reminded everybody about your dues invoice and an additional line item to consider a donation towards our vital work.  Allen Mendelson shared that he has set it up as a monthly donation and doesn't have to think about it every week or so. Within minutes, Alan shared that he paid his dues, make an extra contribution and gave money to foundation all through our PayPal link.

Kathy reminded everybody that when you sign up for a shift of community service that you please follow through on your commitment. If something has changed in your schedule, you need to find a replacement. Ann Heffernon sent out the Google Doc for everybody to sign up for KCC. Thank you.

Ann Heffernon shared that we did our 3rd round of Million Mask Challenge and with the help of Alan (or was it Allen? Sorry!) and Louise Zerba we were able to donate anywhere between 300-1500 masks to different organizations in need.

Alan said that Demar net $48K which surpassed our budget. A HUGE shout out to Cheryl Belair, Joe Walier for securing Chevy and the Hoffman Family Foundation.

Foundation:
Sally celebrated her 65th Birthday!
Lisa confessed that she was hitting the big 60. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Phil W shared that he learned from Meryl Streep that the new trend through COVID is to wear "Soft Clothes". Lisa shared that her husband, Tom, has been wearing his slippers a lot and realized that he forgot to switch out his footwear when he went to Hannafords.
Ann Looney shared that her Mom's partner, Ed, lost a slipper when he was walking out of the Walpole Inn and Bobby had to chase him down with it. She also remembered the days at the bank when women wore suits, pantyhose and high heel shoes and is glad those days are gone!

Susan Newcomer wanted to know what everybody was wearing to the Chamber Gala Thursday night!

Craig shared that he saw a video of Daniel Henderson using his adaptive ski equipment to ski Crotched and he did great! He also shared that his ski crew went to Mt Snow for the first time since the accident and they went to the very location of the accident to reflect.

Mary D thanks us for the masks for MFS!

Marion wished Lisa and Sally a happy birthday and commented on the fashion called "Athliesure" Clothes - soft clothes!

Yves shared that his youngest brother was fighting COVID in the ICU...and, later in the meeting shared that he received a text from him that he was released from the ICU and tested negative! Yves sent an email with a Go Fund Me link connected to a nonprofit that he and his friend started to help children who have left school and their families to live on the streets of Ruwanda. Very impressive, Yves.

Thank you to Marty and Beth for dropping our median age as a club!

Marianne shared that when her daughter was home for the holidays, she witnessed Marianne attending a Rotary meeting and asked questions about it. She went back home to Portland, inquired about their club, and is now a new member! She also thanked our club for the masks for HCS where N95 masks have become mandatory.

Patty shared that all of Cedarcrest is now vaccinated.

Allen Mendelson sent an email to the club with an update on the group that has been meeting around Diversity and Inclusion and we will be hearing from them during Club Forum this week.
