The Keene Elm City Rotary club honored Susan Ashworth of Home Healthcare, Hospice, and Community Services (HCS) by naming her a Paul Harris Fellow in recognition of her 40-plus years serving seniors and families in need in the Monadnock Region.

Born in Westmoreland, Ashworth earned a BS at Keene State College and an MBA from Hampshire College. She began her career in senior services as a VISTA volunteer from 1974 to 1976. Through the NH Association for the Elderly, Ashworth worked to organize senior citizens to advocate effectively for services in their community. Shortly after she became the Director of Senior Services for Cheshire Health and Social Services.

For the past 40 years, Ashworth has worked at HCS. Her responsibilities throughout her career have included being the Director of Senior Services; overseeing the Meals on Wheels program, various Friendly Meals sites, and public elderly and handicapped transportation services; and managing outreach and adult day care.

Most recently she served as Director of Community Relations, Nutrition and Transportation Services. In addition to her work with HSC, Ashworth has been a participant in Leadership Monadnock, a board member of the Monadnock Food Co-op and a member of the Council for a Healthier Community.

“I have spoken at many Rotary meetings and seen the individuals recognized as Paul Harris Fellows,” said Ashworth, who received a certificate and medallion honoring her service. “I am so honored to join them.”
